Emma’s at Shipman Business Park

A nice individual brought in lunch for our office today from some tortilla factory in Shipman Business Park (industrial area between Hilo and Keaau).

What’s the name of this place?? I’ve heard great things about here but all they said was a “Mexican place” or “tortilla factory”. Hopefully some of you guys can help me out.

UPDATE: This place is called “Emma’s”. Thanks guys. :)

Pork Quesadilla

Here is a pork quesadilla with beans, rice, guacamole, and salsa (hidden underneath). The tortilla is what seriously shined. It was the freshest I’ve ever had — very moist, super soft, and so delicious! The pork was tender and perfectly seasoned. Lots of gooey cheese smothered with some thinly sliced onions and peppers. The sides tasted really fresh too. Very satisfying.

These guys/gals (whoever they are) really know what they are doing. I hear you can also buy very cheap and good fresh tortillas here. So what’s the name of this place?

P.S. Thanks for lunch! It was great. :)

There’s a Mexican place called Emma’s in Shipman Park. I haven’t heard of any other Mexican places in there, so that might be it.

Love your website! If you are going out to Shipman, you may be better off going to Donna’s Rib Shack in that place across from the Keaau Shopping center. She has really good southern BBQ…we love the brisket, bbq chicken, and the baked bbq beans.

Isobal, that’s right. Everything does taste better in Hilo. Why is that? Once we brought all kine poke and rice to Coconut Island and it was the best picnic ever. But even cheeseburgers taste better in Hilo.

    Great post, James!

Aww man, you’re making me hungry! I gotta check this place out James. There’s a lady that makes great tacos and Mexican food at the Kea’au Farmers Market. She makes awsome shrimp tacos on Fridays and Saturdays. I eat there at least once a month. Very fresh tasting ingredients, I highly recommend.

Hey James. I am enjoying your site. I love good food and always looking. Mexican food is definately my fav. Emma’s = JACKPOT!! I find myself quite often in the middle of the day (before 2:00 when they close) jumping into my car and driving to shipman-mouth watering-anticipating there delicious authentic mexican food. My fav is the chorizo and egg soft taco’s. They do sell fresh tortillas there along with other stuff like there ono chorizo. Emma greets me when she sees me come in and asks if everythings alright. Great food! Great hospitality!

OK – my husband’s from Texas and I’m hoping someone (foodie bitch?) can tell me more about Donna’s Rib Shack?
Of course we do have Huli Sues and the Waimea Ranch House up here in Kamuela Town, but… does Donna’s warrant a drive for brisket ‘n’ beans?
James – you are the loco moco king. Oh how I miss them on this lo-carb diet.
    Thanks for the great site.

Emma’s fish tacos = the best ever!!!!!!!!!! and everyone at Emma’s is really nice! They are great to the community!!!!!!

The brisket at the Donna’s rib shack = tastes/feels like cardboard; don’t waste your time/$$$$$$$

Emma’s is great, but DO NOT ever order the nachos!!!! They use that gross plastic cheese sauce like 7-11 has. Everything else I’ve tried was good here but the nachos are inedible.
