New Camera: Canon Digital Rebel

I’ve recently acquired an older model Canon Digital Rebel (6MP)! Learning new photo techniques is a lot of fun, especially when food is the subject.

Using a softbox made from an empty 12-pack of Sam Adams beer, some tissue paper, posterboard, and a lamp, I took a photo of breakfast we made.

Pork sausage patty, monterey jack cheese, tomatoes, and egg on an onion kaiser roll. Mmmm…

Want to make a softbox too? This tutorial really helped me out… it’s really simple and results are fantastic!

    James,

Have fun with the digital rebel. It takes some time to get used to the fact that everything is NOT automatic. I’m enjoying both my 5D and my 30D (yes, I bought one of these too!)…though not as much as I would like!

BTW…that sandwich looks great! hope you saved some for me. haha!

Reid, I’ve been drooling over that 5D for a long time. I’m sure it’s worth the money. I guess it’s good that not everything is automatic on my rebel.. I am learning a lot!

The Lou, yep, one of my favorite beers!

Creen, glad you like the softbox idea… I would recommend using a larger box though… I had to use what I had. hehe

Rick, yes I know… you don’t want to eat one of these for breakfast every morning.. :D

    aloha all,

have just found out mt. view bakery was sold several years ago. had wondered why they didnt taste as good ( less flavor, waay less hard and had tiny tiny air bubbles that made them crunchy) they did when i lived in hilo. welll …thats why. guess the son didnt inherit the recipe?? or maybe he sold the bakery?? any one know??

spent last hour online and on phone and found a source of MAIL ORDER STONE COOKIES in downtown hilo. the lady said would mail them priority mail on monday. soooo if they are good i’ll be back with her bakery’s name and tel.#.
