When I lived in Hilo, I used to feel earthquakes all the time. Try experiencing one living in a high rise. Pretty hairy! Plus my electricity didn’t come back until 1:30am!
Kirk, thanks braddah! We were fine… lucky thing Hilo wasn’t hit too hard… unlike kohala side.
Kent, that would be scary! lucky thing my apartment is only 2 stories high and we stay on the 1st floor.
jodi, that’s the first thing i was thinking.. but it seems that’s not the case for this one.
Reid, thanks for visiting! Sounds like you’ve been doing a lot of travelling and very busy… I’ve been really busy myself. I wish I had more time to post more
Dean’s comment is quite hilarious. He physically experienced the literary sense of the phrase. lol
In all my life living on Oahu (over 30 years), this recent ‘quake was the very first I ever felt and experienced.. anywhere. We were up 12 stories in Waikiki, where it was like a side-to-side swaying sensation. Not jolting, but actually kind of smooth, yet very noticeable and a bit hairy, not knowing how much worse or often the ground was gonna’ shake. We’re all very fortunate a major Tsunami wasn’t generated. Amen.
James, hope you get a chance to take that camera back out soon and capture some new grindz spots around the BI!

hope you’re well. You know they’ve been predicting Hualalai (sp?) for an eruption for the last twenty years. Hope it’s not waking up.

James,
Being closer to the epicenter of the quake than we were (here on Oahu), I hope everything is OK with you and your family.
