Cafe 100 Revisited
Why oh why do I keep doing this to myself? Why do I keep coming back here for a bland loco moco in hopes of it one day being better?
Well, I can get an “ok” loco moco and a small chili for well under 4 bucks… the chili was pretty good actually, not bland at all. It scored extra points to make up for the loco moco, which still has a thin strange tasting burger and bland gravy… let me just say, it’s amazing what a lot of shoyu can do to a bland loco moco.
To be fair, the gravy was actually thicker and tastier than the last time I’ve reviewed this place.
And isn’t it cute how they package everything so neatly into a small box? It’s just fun to do take out here.
Dear Cafe 100, I still have faith in you!

I remember when I was little, my family would take us to Cafe 100 to eat a loco moco. Back then I thought they were pretty good. It’s been probably almost two decades since I last had one, but while I was in Hilo for work I decided to stop by and have the “world famous” Cafe 100 loco moco.
Man, I was TOTALLY disappointed. Bland is right. What happened to it? At least a regular loco moco is only $2. Here on Oahu, we’d be lucky to find a loco moco for $4.

James ….I give you credit. As a Hilo native, I loss faith in Cafe 100 20years ago. I am NOT a fan of Mass-produced( at least they taste that way) plates.

Marvo,
When I was little, I used to think Cafe 100 was good too… I think it was just my tastebuds. Seems like they never were that good. BTW, I love your blog! Great idea. I’ll be checking it out…
Dean, not sure how much longer I will have faith in this place. Seems like they are stuck in a rut!
Thanks for visiting guys.
